Overview
Manex is a new, revolutionary way of managing your patients data.
Composed of the Newton assistant and a specific medical application,
the system memorizes all information about your patients and allows you
to retrieve it in a snap. Thanks to its size and design, Manex can
be used at the home office, at the patient's home, in hospital or in any
place you like.
Its integrated electronic agenda displays all your events and,
if you desire so, warns you beforehand of their happening. The to do
list reminds you of all the important tasks still to be done.
A financial screen lists the due and paid amounts for each patient.
Manex can also import and export data to some medical applications
on all PC platforms.
Currently available in French and Dutch, Manex is being translated
to other languages and adapted to other countries' specificities. Contact

Note: make sure your Newton clock is set up correctly (otherwise, the program
might expire on the first launch; in the demo version, it will run for 50
days after the installation date)
1) Transfer the two packages to your Newton.
They may be installed with either the "Connection Kit" or the
"Newton Product
Installer". The packages are named "Manex.pkg" and "Install.pkg".
rem: They may be installed either onto a card or into internal memory.
2) On your Newton, start "Install" (in "Extras"). Click
"Installer".
A library of medical terms will be installed.
The demo library uses 70 ko, the full library for general practitioners
is about 300 ko; make sure you have enough room to install them. After installing
the library, the package "Install" may safely be removed from
your Newton.

Enter the names file by clicking "Names".
Create a new test person (to avoid adding medical data to your contacts).
Fill in some information.
In the status bar, click the Manex button. You now enter Manex.
At the top of the screen, 5 buttons allow you to visualize the 5 parts of
the patient file (administrative, medical, encounters, finances and miscellaneous).
Enter some data using the predefined lists represented by diamonds.

- Did you notice that the lists are specific to the frames?
- That, for instance in the encounter frames, they can call up other
lists and allow you to enter full length sentences?
- Did you see the body accessible from various places? (In the demo
library, only the lists sets "Cardio" and "Digestif"
are present)
- Did you see how to manage your agenda directly from the encounter
screen?
- Did you notice the management of direct payment by insurers of medical
expenses? The list of official prices and their repayment? The computation
of due amounts? The customizable price lists?
- Did you see how to quickly enter results from medical tests in the
miscellaneous section?
- Did you notice that all lists are user-customizable? That you can
add new ones?

of the patient file?

- Manex is Newton 1.x and Newton 2.0 compatible (in any language). If
you have the choice, it runs faster under and uses improvements from 2.0.
- Manex requires the major part of the working memory (heap) of your
Newton (not visible to the user and not to be confused with storage memory).
If you see messages warning you that Newton does not have enough memory,
try removing unnecessary packages from your Newton and cleaning it up. Note
that Manex works best on the newer RAM-expanded machines such as the MessagePad
130.
- The list editor is part of the basic Manex package. It will allow
you to customize the various lists to your need. However, if you plan to
build a large number of lists, we can provide you with free tools that will
ease the job. These tools run under Windows and MacOS.
